The East Turkistan Republican Party always remembers that our compatriots are the most important force in achieving the liberation of the homeland. At the same time, it reports regularly to our compatriots on its work with integrity, dedication and sincerity.
The political vision of the East Turkistan Republican Party is an independent Republic of East Turkistan which respects the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the diversity of the world, the rights of minorities, and the independence and choices of other states; a peace-loving republic.
Only by opening the way for the active participation of new and progressive forces within the Party and by putting democracy into practice can we bring it to our homeland and become a force against China’s false democracy.
Party Emblem
The olive branches, inspired by the United Nations flag, represent our objective of building an independent and peace-loving state that is a member of the United Nations and genuinely respects the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Our homeland’s map, used in place of the globe on the United Nations flag, represents that, as a part of the world, our homeland is also entitled to the consistent application of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The three stars are inherited from the state emblem of our First and Second Republics. They also symbolise our three rivers—the Tarim, Ili and Irtysh—and the Party’s values of independence, fraternity and equality.

The East Turkestan Republican Party is an influential political party among the Uyghurs fighting for the establishment of an independent East Turkistan. The Sunday Guardian spoke to its Secretary, Najmidin Shirif, after US President Donald Trump passed the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act, 2020. Excerpts:
The entire Uyghur people are eager to live in a completely independent country. The East Turkistan Republican Party is the first Uyghur political party that represents the Uyghurs’ aspirations for independence, to make East Turkistan an independent UN member state and to mobilise the entire population to participate in politics.
The 2020 Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act involves the two most powerful economies in the world—the United States and China. After the passing of this Act, the issue of genocide against the Uyghurs has now gone beyond being just a regional and ethnic issue.
China’s rivalry with the United States is an opportunity for India to participate in maintaining the world’s democratic values as one of the world’s largest democratic powers.
China’s occupation of Tibet and East Turkistan is a challenge to the world’s conscience and legal justice system. The independence of East Turkestan and Tibet will be beneficial for the whole world, including India.
The situation of “re-education camps” is deteriorating day by day. Now, the Chinese government is turning the area into a forced labour base, some people have been sent to prison with unjustified severe criminal penalties.
Values
To create the public foundation for East Turkistan’s independence and a strong force of patriots capable of conducting a systematic struggle for independence.
Independence is the Party’s fundamental principle.
Fraternity and equality are the Party’s values.
A nation that cannot build an inclusive political structure cannot achieve unity. A group that cannot achieve unity will inevitably fail.
